Report: Marshawn Lynch has torn hamstring

Marshawn Lynch’s hamstring injury could be more severe than first believed.

After Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters Lynch would be a “gametime decision” for the Monday Night Football showdown against the Detroit Lions, he then confirmed there were “findings” from Lynch’s recent MRI. Taking a step further, Tony Softli of Sports Radio 950 KJR reports Lynch’s MRI results showed a tear in his hamstring.

Obviously a tear of any grade would mean significantly more down time for Lynch than a sore hamstring, if this report is true. He didn’t look at all like himself in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears, rushing for just 14 yards on five carries before giving way to rookie Thomas Rawls out of Central Michigan, who rushed for 104 yards on 16 carries in his stead.

This story will be worth close observation in the coming days and weeks to come, not only for Seahawks fans but also for everyone in the fantasy football universe. Lynch, when healthy, is one of the league’s best and a fantasy dynamo. Right now, unfortunately, it appears he might significant need time off in order for the hamstring to fully mend.
