Colts linebacker: Numbers don’t lie, but Patriots offense not invincible

Tom Brady

The New England Patriots offense is destroying everything in its path, but an Indianapolis Colts defender thinks Tom Brady can be stopped.

According to Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star, though linebacker Jonathan Newsome gave the Patriots some credit, he said Brady and Co. still have a flaw.

“I don’t think they’re unstoppable. I think they’re a great team with a great coach, and you have to give them credit. They have been for the last decade. There’s only so much you can say about that. The numbers don’t lie. But I don’t think they’re invincible.”

Perhaps you might consider the lack of invincibility a minor flaw. You’d be right.

New England edged the Pittsburgh Steelers in the season opener, hung 40 points on the Buffalo Bills, blasted the Jacksonville Jaguars 51-17 and stomped the Dallas Cowboys 30-6.

Brady has completed 72.5 percent of his passes and thrown for 1,387 yards, tossing 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and Dion Lewis form a dangerous pass- and run-catching trio, and the Patriots are simply destroying everyone.

Unfortunately for Indianapolis, its defense is probably not New England’s kryptonite. The Colts have surrendered nearly 400 yards and allowed 22.6 points per game.

The Patriots offense might not be invincible, but it certainly could look that way on when New England invades Lucas Oil Stadium for Sunday Night Football.
