WATCH: Metta World Peace plays coy about training at Lakers facilities

USA Today Sports

Rumors have been swirling about a possible reunion between Metta World Peace and the Los Angeles Lakers for the past month, and he didn’t do anything to squelch them in a recent interview with TMZ.

Metta says he’s been training at Lakers team facilities with some of the team’s younger players.

When asked if “Peace would spread” to the NBA this season, Metta played coy, saying he “heard some things” about LA’s interest. He insists his presence at Lakers facilities isn’t an effort to pitch himself to the team. Instead, he says he’s just interested in helping the young players.

He also displayed his signature confidence.

“I’m an amazing basketball player,” he said. “I’m one of the best in the world. Now, just because I’m not in the NBA doesn’t mean I’m not one of the best players in the world.”

Back on August 24 Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnorowski reported the Lakers were “seriously considering” bringing Metta back into the fold for the 2015 season. There’s no deal in place for the forward yet, but that could soon change, based on everything we’ve heard so far.
