Russell Wilson not worried about Seahawks’ worst-ranked preseason offense

The Seattle Seahawks churned out the NFL’s worst-ranked offense of the preseason, which resulted in zero offensive touchdowns scored.

Regardless of how bad things have been for the team’s offense, Russell Wilson apparently isn’t worried about some preseason rust (via Brady Henderson of ESPN Seattle):

“We’re not far away. We’ve had some unbelievable practices. We go against one of the best defenses in the National Football League every day.”

The Seahawks’ three preseason games weren’t very fun to watch. During the 12 drives in which Seattle played its starters, seven punts resulted, five were preceded by three-and-outs, four ended in field goals and one was ended by a turnover.

Along the course of their three games to this point, Wilson misfired on attempts to connect with both Jermaine Kearse and Doug Baldwin. He also failed to build any in-game chemistry with new tight end Jimmy Graham. The duo missed twice near the end zone in their third preseason game against the San Diego Chargers.

He’s struggled to get much of anything going through the air. To this point, Wilson has completed only 54.8 percent of his passes.

Running back Marshawn Lynch, who only made a brief appearance in the last preseason game, was also less than dazzling gaining just six yards on two attempts.

Despite these bumps in the road, Wilson urged that their offense is “really clicking in practice” and that “we just haven’t translated it quite yet in terms of finishing the drive on game day — but we will.”

Because they are the Seahawks and have been in back-to-back Super Bowl games, we can cut Wilson and the team a break when it comes to their shoddy preseason. They’ve surely been working on a plethora of plays that will be revealed once the regular season gets underway and the team starts playing for the real money.

In the minimal time that the starters will play against the Oakland Raiders in their final preseason game, they will have the final opportunity to do some fine-tuning to fix some of the plays that have gone terribly wrong so far.
