Rex Ryan: Patriots ‘not exactly the Boy Scouts of America’

Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan isn’t happy about some of the rough treatment his players were subject to during Week 2 against the New England Patriots.

Let’s make one thing clear before moving forward here: Ryan isn’t blaming the refs for the loss on Sunday.

After conceding that he and his staff were outcoached and that his team wasn’t good enough on the field to win, Ryan expressed his displeasure about some of the stuff that went on outside the lines that didn’t get called.

“But there’s different ways of chatting and of all that type of stuff, too. Let’s face it: New England is not exactly the Boy Scouts of America. All right? So you can say what you want, but the tape doesn’t lie either,” Ryan said, via weei.com.

Ryan was upset about some of the “borderline” calls that went against his team and was baffled at how the Patriots were able to get away with tossing one of his players out of bounds after a play.

“We had a player thrown out of bounds after a play was over, and we got a 15-yard penalty. So there are things that are right there, borderline, but it seems like we’re not gonna get the break. We just got to be smart, we got to learn to walk away from things and that’s what we’ll do.”

The bombastic coach appears to be saying New England received preferential treatment. This is not exactly a new sentiment around the league — just ask Oakland Raiders fans if they think the Pats get special treatment from the refs.

There is never any shortage of drama when Ryan takes on Bill Belichick’s Patriots.

Thankfully for fans, these two teams will face off again later in the season when the Bills head to Boston to take on the Patriots at Gillette Stadium for a Monday Night Football showdown on Nov. 23.
