Report: Ndamukong Suh ignored Dolphins coach’s play calls in loss to Jaguars

Ndamukong Suh being released was one of the biggest stories Monday as the NFL tampering period kicked into high gear

The Ndamukong Suh era in Miami isn’t getting off to a hot start.

Not only was the All-Pro defensive tackle almost an invisible man during the Week 2 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he was apparently going solo as well, ignoring his coach’s play calls.

According to the Miami Herald, Suh went off script on a number of occasions, ignoring defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle’s play calls.

“The Miami Herald has learned that Suh freelanced at times Sunday, creating confusion on the defense. By taking matters into his own hands, the Dolphins’ $114 million man took a bad situation and made it worse.”

This was the second weekend in a row in which Suh put on a less than inspired effort. Through two games to open the 2015 season and his tenure with the Dolphins, he has three tackles and no sacks — a complete non-factor.

But don’t ask him to tell you why.

“I couldn’t tell you,” Suh said, when asked to explain his uninspired play. “At the end of the day, we have to go back to the drawing board and figure out what we want to run so guys can make plays and go from there.”

At this point, it doesn’t appear going back to the drawing board will help Suh. If he’s not going to follow the game plan anyway, what’s the point of drawing anything up?

After signing the richest contract in history for a any defender, let’s just hope we’re not dealing with another Albert Haynesworth situation here.
