The Dallas Cowboys have a gaping void to fill for at least several weeks while their lead wide receiver Dez Bryant sits out to heal from a foot surgery he underwent earlier this week.
Doing what they can to cover Bryant’s absence, the Cowboys announced that wide receiver Cole Beasley will start in Bryant’s place.

Covering for Bryant is going to be a tall order for Beasley in both the literal and physical sense. It is worth noting that Beasley is six inches shorter than Bryant and weighs 51 pounds less than the two-time Pro Bowler.
In Week 1, Beasley tallied only 49 yards against the New York Giants, which came on four receptions. He was also stripped of the ball by Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who returned the fumble for a 57-yard touchdown.
Along with Beasley, the Cowboys other receivers and tight ends are really going to have to step up while Bryant sits sidelined for what could be 10-12 weeks according to an updated report on Bryant’s prognosis.
We’ll see Beasley in action against the Philadelphia Eagles when the two teams face off at 4:25 p.m. ET.
