Jets or Giants: Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis deliberating NFL loyalty

Soon enough, New York Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis will make plenty of decisions on the basketball court. However, the newest star in the Big Apple is currently working on another important decision: Should his favorite NFL team be the Jets or Giants?

According to Steve Serby of the New York Post, Porzingis is a fan of Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. but won’t be pressured into choosing a team.

“I want to see both teams, and then I want to decide on my own. I don’t want one person to be like, ‘Oh, you’re gonna be a Jets fan,’ you know? I want to devise on my own.”

The Knicks selected Porzingis with the No. 4 pick in the 2015 NBA draft in hopes the 7-foot-1 Serbian will complement Carmelo Anthony and help lift the franchise out of its recent struggles. After all, New York’s 17-65 record was the worst mark in Knicks history.

But back to what’s most important: Jets or Giants?

Although the Giants have a pair of Super Bowl victories in the past decade, the Jets are trending up under Todd Bowles. Once Gang Green has a franchise quarterback, they’ll be perennial contenders.

On the other hand, the G-Men are the proven winners, and Porzingis could officially align himself with his newfound favorite in Beckham.

Perhaps Porzingis will hold off on his choice until the Jets and Giants square off on Dec. 6. Fortunately, the Knicks will have returned to New York to prepare for a home game the next night.

Decisions, decisions.
