Draymond Green calls Kevin Durant an under-the-radar trash-talker

Golden State Warriors small forward Draymond Green has built a reputation for his trash-talking prowess, but he doled out some praise for Kevin Durant’s ability to fire back.

In an appearance on the Freddie Coleman Show (h/t Anthony Slater, The Oklahoman), Green said Durant is an underrated trash-talker.

“You know who I always thought (was a great trash-talker), but has [flown] under the radar, I think Kevin Durant. Lotta people don’t know that. But if you play against him you know.”

Unfortunately, Green didn’t provide specifics, but he said Durant uses his on-court performance as justification for the verbal jabs.

“KD makes you feel bad about yourself, that you ever [decided to talk] junk. It’s the funniest thing in the world.”

Grantland’s Jonathan Abrams noted Warriors coach Stephen Curry, All-Star guard Klay Thompson and 2015 NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala said Green has a comment for everything to everyone. So, for Green to laud Durant, that’s quite a bit of an honor.

However, the 2013-14 MVP certainly deserves it.

Durant has led the NBA in scoring four times, including an average of 32 points during his MVP campaign. The superstar small forward has earned six straight All-Star nods and a total of five first-team All-NBA awards.

But that’s not all. In January 2014, Durant obliterated Green and the Warriors, pouring in a season-high 54 points on 19-of-28 shooting. At that point, like Green told Coleman, there’s nothing you can say to Durant.

Sometimes, the best trash talk has little to do with words, and Durant is a master of that skill.
