Pete Carroll is frustrated with Seattle Seahawks’ first-team offense

Pete Carroll is an easy-going guy, but his patience for Seattle’s first-team offense is being tested right now.

Over the course of the Seattle Seahawks three preseason games, the first-team offense has recorded zero touchdowns. The 49 total points that have been scored thus far have come from field goals, kick return touchdowns and a third-string passing touchdown.

While that’s not the end of the world, head coach Pete Carroll expressed some concern with the Seahawks offense after it struggled again in a 16-15 victory over the San Diego Chargers on Saturday:

“We’re all a little bit frustrated with it,” Carroll said, via The Seattle Times. “I’m a little bit frustrated by it. But I’m not worried about it over the long haul.”

In their Week 3 game in particular, the Seahawks completed only 137 yards and eight first downs on six total drives. Additionally, the offense went three-and-out three times. Running back Marshawn Lynch, who played sparingly, only carried the ball twice of six yards. He also had one catch for three yards.

Quarterback Russell Wilson finished his series of drives completing just 7 of 15 passing attempts for 56 yards and zero touchdowns. He also failed to connect with new tight end Jimmy Graham in the end zone, sending a pair of potential touchdowns way over the head of his giant target. Graham also dropped a short pass that was awkwardly tossed by Wilson.

Speaking on his sketchy play from Saturday’s game, Wilson brushed if off for the most part.

“We need to finish drives and that’s on me,” Wilson said. “I missed a couple of throws there. But we will hit them. We believe that.” “We are definitely moving the ball,” Wilson said. “We just need to finish. That’s the most important thing. And we will.”

The Seahawks are one of the top offensive units in the NFL. And, the preseason games present the opportunity to shake the dust off and work with new team members. If this report of frustration was one coming from the Washington Redskins or Cleveland Browns camp then there would be cause for concern.

This is the Seahawks we’re talking about, though, and they will be just fine once things get real in September.
