John Harbaugh trumpets Donald Trump, says America should ‘build a wall’

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh proved he isn’t shy about espousing his political views, and it’s clear he’s all aboard the Donald Trump train after comments he made on Saturday.

Speaking with reporters after practice, he started out by discussing officiating on the gridiron but quickly moved into the political arena.

“I’m going Trump here,” Harbaugh said (h/t Baltimore Sun). “Build the wall. If you don’t have a border, you don’t have a country. You’re not a country without a border, right?”

Walls have not exactly been positive for other countries in the past, but Harbaugh, and many other Americans, believe that closing off the nation is the best way to keep America from being harmed from outsiders.

That’s debatable.

Not stopping there, Harbaugh launched into a different angle regarding immigration.

“At the same time, you’ve got 12-15 million hard-working people here. Give them a shot. Give them a chance to become a citizen so they’re paying taxes. All of us know that it’s not that complicated, but this side doesn’t want to solve it, neither does [the other] side. Neither one of them want to solve the problem. Solve the problem.”

This is the argument many conservatives have made regarding illegal immigrants who come into the United States to find work. It’s also the argument Trump has made while he stirs up support in the conservative sector and gains ground on his competitors—much to the surprise of political pundits everywhere.

Likely, this isn’t going to be a popular view among many Ravens fans, and it might not even find favor within Harbaugh’s own locker room. Regardless of your political inclination, it seems safe to say Harbaugh should have probably not delved into politics during a press conference about his football team.
