Cavaliers and Warriors reportedly set to meet on Christmas day

NBA fans just got an early Christmas present with the reported news that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors are set to play one another on Dec. 25, 2015.

The two teams battled it out in the NBA Finals just a couple months ago, and the league obviously wants to recapture the hype that epic series generated with this Christmas day matchup.

Marc Stein of ESPN reported this breaking development on Thursday, though he was quick to point out nothing is set in stone at this time:

“Sources told ESPN.com that the league plans to feature an NBA Finals rematch as a headliner of its annual Christmas Day slate but stressed that nothing is likely to be made official before next week, when the league ‎is expected to release the new schedule in full,” Stein wrote.

As you likely know, Golden State won the NBA Championship over Cleveland in June, taking the title with a brilliant 105-97 victory in Game 6 of the highly contested series.

Andre Iguodala won the MVP trophy for his phenomenal performance in the series, and the Warriors displayed outstanding team basketball throughout the playoffs.

With Steph Curry, Iggy, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love representing their respective teams, this potential Christmas Day celebration would be a star-studded affair.
