Watch: Raiders’ Latavius Murray Does Uphill Sprints, Hopeful of Securing Starting Job

The NFL offseason isn’t stopping Oakland Raiders running back Latavius Murray from getting a leg up on his running back competition. Murray has been recording his offseason workouts on his Instagram account. Murray’s latest post shows him sprinting up grassy hills outdoors.

When the Raiders begin their training camp, Murray will have the opportunity to earn the starting job. Head coach Jack Del Rio recently had some praise to throw the running back’s way:

“Right now, he’s been running with the lead group, but he knows that he has to earn that through camp, through the preseason,” said Head Coach Jack Del Rio. “But he’s done a nice job this offseason. He is taking steps and growing as a young player.”

The Raiders start training camp nine days from now. Since Darren McFadden is no longer with the team, Murray will face Trent Richardson and Roy Helu as potential competition for the starting gig. Murray only started in three games for the Raiders last season. However, he made the most of his opportunity, rushing for 424 yards and two touchdowns. He also averaged an impressive 5.2 yards per carry.
