Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr. avoid PUP list, Giants sign James Jones

New York Giants star receivers Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr. will enter training camp healthy and ready to practice. The duo avoided the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after missing all of the Giants’ mandatory minicamp in June.

Cruz will be returning after undergoing patellar tendon surgery last October. Beckham missed June’s practice sessions due to a hamstring tweak. Cruz looked “jacked and ready to go,” according to NJ.com’s Jordan Raanan. The scribe also said Beckham was running “just fine” while performing his conditioning tests.

This is terrific news for the Giants camp. Having both receivers healthy and present this year is something the team didn’t get to experience much of in 2014. Delayed by a nagging hamstring injury, Beckham missed the first four games of his rookie season. Cruz exited the team permanently in Week 6 after he took a horrible spill and tore his knee up. Both wideouts will reportedly be eased back into practice over the next few weeks.

Cruz and Beckham will also be joined by veteran wide receiver James Jones, who just signed a one-year deal with the Giants on Thursday. This reunites Jones with his former offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, who he played under while with the Green Bay Packers.

This all means that quarterback Eli Manning will be generously armed with some spectacular weapons throughout the 2015 campaign.
