Terrelle Pryor’s teammates not very optimistic about him as a wide receiver

Quarterback turned wide receiver Terrelle Pryor enters training camp as a clear long shot to actually make the team. Speaking about his fellow receiver, who has a bumpy path ahead to remain on the 53-man roster, Brian Hartline shared this regarding Pryor’s transformation:

“It’s a tall task. I’ve been doing it for 10 to 20 years.”

Browns safety Donte Whitner also weighed in on Pryor’s difficult transition:

“It’s going to be very challenging for him. We’re not going to make it easy on him.”

Not willing to give up, Pryor worked with future Hall of Famer wide receiver Randy Moss as well as current receivers Josh Gordon and Antonio Brown over the offseason.

“I believe I can do this,” Pryor recently told The Plain Dealer. “When I work out and when I train to do something, I don’t do it just to be OK. I believe in my heart with my God-given ability that I’m going to be the best. That’s not being arrogant or cocky. No one outworks me, so I believe in my heart if I put my mind to anything, I can accomplish it.”

With his 6-foot-4, 233 pound frame, Pryor’s physique certainly fits the bill for a receiver. However, successfully switching positions in the NFL is rare. At the very least, if Pryor sticks on the final roster, he makes for suitable quarterback depth behind lackluster starter Josh McCown and second-year backup Johnny Manziel.

As far as the Browns wide receivers go, Pryor sits quite deep on a depth chart that is headlined by Hartline, Dwayne Bowe, Andrew Hawkins and Taylor Gabriel.
