Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has repeatedly expressed a desire to eventually join a Major League Baseball team, so his latest comments are not surprising by any means.
While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, according to ProFootballTalk, Wilson admitted it wouldn’t be easy to play both football and baseball but didn’t rule out dual-sport participation.
The 26-year-old said, “you know, there’s always a way” and that he’d “definitely consider” playing for the Seattle Mariners if the Texas Rangers traded his rights.
Wilson dream of baseball was fun for a while, and a pair of appearances at Rangers spring training was definitely neat. But man, it’s getting old. This isn’t intended to be a fastball shot out of a hot-sports-take cannon, that Wilson is a detriment to his team or isn’t focused.
Although he’s really just not a good baseball player, Wilson is a really, really good quarterback.

A two-time Pro Bowler and two-time NFC champion who has one Super Bowl ring through just three NFL seasons, Wilson can stop pretending like baseball is a realistic future.
In 315 at-bats for Colorado Rockies’ Single-A affiliates, Wilson managed a .229 average and .354 on-base percentage. He swiped 19 bases and posted a respectable .983 fielding mark, but the only way Wilson reaches the Majors is via a publicity stunt.
If an organization—be it the Rangers, Mariners or other—wants to show off Wilson, great. You can bet I’ll be watching his Major League debut.
Don’t give up on your dreams of playing professional sports, kids—not unless you’re already an NFL quarterback who’s about to sign a $100 million contract. Then, no one would blame you if you did.
