The Sacramento Kings appeared to be the only team interested in free agent Rajon Rondo, and the point guard is officially going to become a member of the squad.
According to Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports, Rondo will sign a one-year deal with the Kings.

Rondo, who reportedly wanted all of Sacramento’s $10 million in cap space, received his desire. He’ll join a roster that boasts All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins, small forward Rudy Gay and point guard Darren Collison.
The acquisition is certainly a head-scratching move, since Collison proved he was an efficient catalyst in the backcourt before sustaining a season-ending hip injury. Rondo, on the other hand, failed to mesh with the Dallas Mavericks and seemingly only caused problems.
Nevertheless, the 29-year-old Rondo will ink a contract that allows him to re-enter free agency next summer when the NBA salary cap is expected to increase by $22 million. Rondo will probably pursue a long-term deal in July 2016, since it’s probably his final chance to sign that type of contract.
In 68 combined appearances with the Boston Celtics and Mavericks last season, Rondo managed 8.9 points on 42.6 percent shooting, 7.9 assists and 5.5 rebounds.
Rondo and Collison will likely battle for the starting point guard job. The loser of that competition should become the team’s sixth man.
Collison averaged 16.1 points and 5.6 assists last season.
