Marvin Lewis will leave the Cincinnati Bengals if they win the Super Bowl

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has been under a ton of scrutiny in recent seasons. Unable to win a playoff game in four consecutive appearances, Lewis and the Bengals find themselves under a microscope heading into the 2015 season. Considering the vast amount of talent on this roster, the expectations have to be the Super Bowl.

As one of the longest-tenured head coaches in the NFL, Lewis understands this full well. He also indicated a willingness to move on from the team should it hoist the Lombardi:

“I want to hand Mike (Brown) the trophy, then just walk away.”

Lewis is obviously referring to long-time Bengals owner Mike Brown, who has yet to see his franchise hoist that Lombardi during his near quarter-century tenure.

The interesting thing here is that Lewis might find himself out of a job one way or another. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer post linked above, the head coach is serious about riding off into the sunset should the team win the title.

Unfortunately for Lewis, he might be given his walking papers should Cincinnati put up another dud in the playoffs this upcoming January. In his 12 years as the Bengals head coach, Lewis has led the squad to six playoff appearances—losing all six of those games in which the team has appeared.
