Darrelle Revis thinks AFC East will be NFL’s toughest division

The AFC East was a busy place during the offseason, and newly signed New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis believes the division has become the NFL’s toughest faction.

According to Daniel Popper of the New York Daily News, Revis cited the vast amount of moving pieces as evidence for his claim. Revis said:

“I feel like this would be the toughest division in the NFL. Just how all the pieces have moved: me being back here, Rex (Ryan) going to Buffalo, you have (Mike) Tannenbaum down in Miami. It’s a lot of moving pieces.”

Even before the team signed Revis, New York boasted one of the league’s defenses. But now with another weapon in the secondary, the Jets will only become more dangerous under first-year head coach Todd Bowles.

New York needs to figure out its quarterback situation, but the Buffalo Bills must answer an identical question. Nevertheless, Buffalo added All-Pro running back LeSean McCoy and also employs an elite defensive unit—one that helped the franchise finish 9-7 last season.

Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins threw money at defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, quarterback Ryan Tannehill and center Mike Pouncey. Additionally, Miami picked up wide receivers DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills to bolster its attack and should have a healthy Branden Albert at left tackle.

Though Tom Brady’s four-game suspension will temporarily hamstring the New England Patriots, it would be foolish to the franchise that’s won six straight AFC East titles and 12 of the last 14.

Other divisions—such as the AFC North, AFC West, NFC East—figure to have exciting finishes, but Revis is spot-on here.
