Arizona Cardinals rookie Damond Powell shot in face while at home

Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Damond Powell was reportedly shot in the face while sitting in his own driveway on Friday night.

The report comes from Fox10tv.com in Toledo, Ohio:

“Police say just after 8:30 p.m. shots were fired from a car down the street from Powell and his friends, who were sitting in the driveway. Powell was shot in the face and taken to UTMC by an unknown driver. Police say his injures do not appear to be life-threatening.”

Per the report, the car from which the shots were fired was gold.

Powell was fighting for a roster spot in a crowded receiving corps for the Cardinals that includes veterans Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, John Brown and Jaron Brown. In his final year at the University of Iowa, Powell caught 19 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns.

Powell’s health is the major concern at this time, and football is just a side note, however and we hope he recovers fully from his injuries.

Police are asking anyone with information on this shooting to please contact Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
