Andre Johnson Wanted to Play for the Dolphins, “But They Never Called”

Indianapolis Colts’ wide receiver Andre Johnson was a free agent after he parted ways with the Houston Texans in March, but one NFL team missed out on the 12-year veteran.

Johnson claims he was interested in playing for the Miami Dolphins, according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald.

“I always had a dream of playing at home. I was a huge Dolphins fan. But they never called.”

Johnson attended Miami Senior High School and played for the University of Miami in college, so finishing his professional career in South Florida would’ve been kind of special.

When “Around the NFL” contacted the Dolphins regarding Johnson, the team declined to comment. The Dolphins signed veteran wide receiver Greg Jennings, who came at a cheaper price tag.

With the frustrations of playing for Houston Texans now in the past, the 2015 season will show Miami what it missed out on when Johnson catches passes for Andrew Luck. The Colts have made it to the playoffs each year that Luck has been under center.

In the end, Johnson is with a team that has the best chance of helping the All-Pro wideout reach a Super Bowl before the sun sets on his terrific career.
