Steven Souza Jr. laid down a bunt, but the Washington Nationals couldn’t complete the easy out at first base—nor could they control what happened next: a successful “little-league” home run.

Pitcher Blake Treinen sailed the throw to first, which afforded David DeJesus the opportunity to run home and Souza Jr. to keep running around the bases.

Then, Washington right fielder Bryce Harper’s ill-fated attempt to nab DeJesus at the plate ended up in the dugout. As a result, Souza Jr. was awarded home for a ball out of play.

Instead of the Nats ending the inning, Tampa Bay took a 5-0 lead.
