Tim Duncan to Help Spurs Pitch LaMarcus Aldridge in Meeting on Wednesday

The San Antonio Spurs are prepared to put a full-court recruiting press on soon-to-be free agent LaMarcus Aldridge when the market opens up on Wednesday.

According to Yahoo Sports NBA insider Marc Spears, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker are expected to join Gregg Popovich in a meeting with the Portland Blazers star in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

While the Spurs are one of seven teams Aldridge is slated to meet with, he might not keep his options open too long after meeting with this trio. If there is any team in the Association that can sell the big man what it is trying to build in just one meeting, it’s a Spurs squad that has won 50-plus games in 16 consecutive seasons, earning five NBA titles during that span.

According to David Aldridge of NBA.com, the big man also has visits lined up with the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks (in that order).

At this point, it seems to be a foregone conclusion that Aldridge will bolt from the Pacific Northwest. It just remains to be seen where he will end up. If the Spurs put together an impressive pitch, he may very well join Duncan and company for what will be a sure title contender in 2015-16.
