Seahawks Marshawn Lynch Admits He Contemplated Retirement

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch appeared on the Conan show on Monday night where he told host Conan O’Brien that he contemplated retiring this spring.

That is until the Seahawks flashed some more money in his direction, Lynch admitted (via NFL.com).

“I mean, you know, in this game, you know, at this running back position, you don’t go that long,” he said. “But, I mean, they put 12 in front of you for a year you start to think like ‘Yeah, maybe I can do this again.'”

Conan proceeded to joke with Lynch:

“12 thousand dollars.”

Lynch took the bait:

“Yeah, something like that.”

We know $12,000 was not the price to lure Lynch back. Instead, that number stands at $12 million this season. Lynch’s new contract is worth $24 million in additional money and pays out $31 million over the next three seasons.

Considering Lynch strongly hinted that money was one of his primary motivations for returning, it wouldn’t be a shock to see him hang it up after this year.

Now that the Seahawks have their lead rusher well taken care of, it’s time for them focus their attention on keeping their star quarterback around.
