The Philadelphia Eagles knowingly acquired an expiring contract when they traded for Sam Bradford in March. The end of the quarterback’s deal isn’t a problem, but it still must be addressed.
However, according to NFL Media’s Albert Breer, preliminary discussions have not yielded much success:
Also, per sources, the Eagles have had preliminary contract talks with QB Sam Bradford. Sides talked a few times, but no real progress made.

He’s flashed potential when working as a full-time starter, but injuries have derailed Bradford’s career to this point. The former No. 1 overall pick played just seven games in 2013 then missed the entire 2014 campaign—both absences due to a torn ACL.
Bradford is due nearly $13 million this season, per Spotrac. The Eagles must decide whether or not he’s worth a similar salary in the future, considering the current rate for what teams perceive as a franchise quarterback appears to be right around Bradford’s 2015 payday.
Shelling out that kind of cash to an oft-injured player is risky, but Bradford has shown he’s worth that money when healthy. Then again, he’s also been plagued by unfortunate injuries.
Philly’s front office is undoubtedly in a tough spot.
