Boston Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval isn’t necessarily having a great first season with the team after signing a five-year, $95 million deal this past winter.
The former World Series hero was benched for Thursday night’s game against the Atlanta Braves for violating the team’s social media policy.
If we are being honest here, Sandoval’s benching is more of a stupid slip than anything else.
During a “bathroom break” in the seventh inning of Wednesday’s game, the third baseman decided that it was a great idea to creep a woman’s Instagram account by liking a couple of her photos.
Not to blow up the dude's spot, but uh…is Pablo Sandoval on Instagram during the game? pic.twitter.com/q8X4HoFDOT

Leaving a paper trail, the Red Sox found out about Sandoval’s in-game activities and promptly benched for for Thursday night’s game:

No one can blame Pablo for checking this lovely lady out, but doing so during a game was what we’d call an error in judgement. Doing so while leaving a trail on the Internet was definitely not smart on his part.
Hey, at least he stood up and admitted to bringing the phone in the bathroom with him. There’s nothing worse than athletes claiming their social media accounts have been hacked.
Sandoval is hitting .270 with six homers and 23 RBI’s in 59 games this year.
