Only Mascot in Jacksonville Jaguars History Retires After 19 Years

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be in search of a new mascot to play Jaxson De Ville. It is reported that Curtis Dvorak, who has been “The Cat” for the Jags since 1996 when the team first created a mascot, announced his retirement.

Dvorak, 39, performed on the sidelines for the Jags and entertained fans for 19 years. “The Cat” is best known for some crazy antics such as bungee jumping from scoreboards and light poles. Some of Dvorak’s wacky behavior on the field caused the NFL to alter its rules in the late 1990’s.

“The Cat” reportedly caused some controversy last season after referencing that the Pittsburgh Steelers’ towels contained the Ebola virus.

Apparently, 19 years of wearing a stuffy cat suit was enough for Dvorak.

The good news is that this opens up one more job around the NFL.
