Marcell Dareus on Bills Defense Being Best Ever: “It’s so Obtainable”

There is little doubt that the Buffalo Bills defense is going to be among the best in football this season. Coming off a 2014 campaign that saw it yield the fourth-fewest points in the NFL and after adding a defensive-minded head coach in Rex Ryan, things are definitely pointing in the right direction on that side of the ball.

Defensive tackle Marcell Dareus is apparently ratcheting up expectations just a tad:

“Best ever. It’s so obtainable. All we have to do is continue to do what we want, and not what we can,” the Pro Bowl defensive tackle told the Toronto Sun. “If we do what we want, and do everything to head in that direction, why can’t we? Why can’t we?”

Whoa.

Buffalo may have a talented defense, but it’s going to have an issue even surpassing the 2015 version of the Seattle Seahawks defense. It’s good to set your goals high. It’s a completely different thing to set them at a nearly unattainable level.

With Tyrod Taylor potentially looking at starting under center entering Week 1, Dareus better hope his Bills defense is up to the task. It’s going to have to play at an elite level to keep the team competitive throughout the season and potentially earn its first playoff appearance since 1999.
