Free Agent RB Chris Ogbonnaya Announces His Retirement

NFL running back and free agent Chris Ogbonnaya announced his retiement via Instagram on Friday. After six seasons in the NFL, Ogbonnaya released this statement:

“It is with great thankfulness to God and appreciation of my family, coaches, and fans that I announce my retirement from football. It has been an absolute privilege to play this game that I love, and I look forward to my continued involvement in the future.”

Ogbonnaya was a seventh-round pick by the St. Louis Rams in 2009. He then played brief stints with the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers and New York Giants.

Over the course of Ogbonnaya’s six-year career, he tallied 158 carries, 710 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He also totaled 96 receptions, 714 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The 29-year-old running back played in a total of 53 games, where he is most known for his 2013 season in Cleveland when he played in all 16 season games.
