Former MLB Player Darryl Hamilton Apparent Victim of Murder-Suicide

Former Major League Baseball player Darryl Hamilton, who played for five different teams during a 13-year career, was the apparent victim of a murder-suicide during a domestic dispute outside of Houston this past weekend.

The Houston Chronicle is reporting that Hamilton was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds Sunday afternoon. The alleged shooter, Monica Jordan, was also found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Per the report:

“Police said officers were sent to the home on an emergency call about a disturbance. When they arrived, they found the body of Hamilton near the front entry way. The body of Jordan was found in another part of the home,” the Chronicle reported. “Investigators said it appeared Hamilton had been shot more than once and Jordan died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

Jordan, the mother of Hamilton’s 13-month old boy, is said to be the owner of the house in which the shootings took place.

It’s some extremely disturbing news for those around the baseball community. During his playing days, Hamilton was seen an outgoing personality and clubhouse leader. His seemingly never-ending smile was refreshing for the teams he played with during an extensive 13-year career.

Hamilton, 50, was hired by MLB Network as an analyst back in 2013. He finished his Major League career with a .291 batting average and 1,333 hits.

Sadly, the last photo Hamilton posted on Twitter was of him at a Seattle Mariners game with his two sons from earlier this month.

Killed on Father’s Day, our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Hamilton family during this most difficult time.
