The Chicago Bears announced Monday morning that they have signed cornerback Tracy Porter to a one-year deal.

Porter, who is best known for a game-sealing pick-six to help the New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, played in just three games last season due to injury.
A second-round pick in 2008, Porter has tallied 287 tackles and 10 interceptions, but he’s only played one full season (2013) during his seven-year NFL career.
Chicago desperately needs help in the secondary behind Tim Jennings and Kyle Fuller, since the backups—Alan Ball, Sherrick McManus, Demontre Hurst and Al Louis-Jean—are unproven, to say the least.

Chicago GM Ryan Pace, who spent the 14 years in New Orleans before accepting his new position with the Windy City in January, is certainly familiar with the 28-year-old. Pace likely signed Porter to be the team’s nickelback.
