Buffalo Bills Break Record in Season Ticket Sales

The Buffalo Bills are regaining their popularity of past seasons. The team reported Monday that it hit a new record in sales with 57,132 tickets currently purchased. The Bills reportedly plan to cap the sales at 60,000 tickets, which would leave over 11,000 seats open for single-game purchases.

Bills owner Terry Pegula released this statement (via Pro Football Talk).

“Since we agreed to purchase the Buffalo Bills in September 2014, we have been humbled by the fans and their outpouring of emotion when they learned this team would remain in Buffalo. Bills Season Ticket Members passionately support this team year after year and are the most loyal fans in the National Football League. We truly thank them for their commitment to this franchise. Like our fans, we are looking forward to a great 2015 season with our head coach Rex Ryan, the coaching staff, the players and the entire organization.”

This record in ticket sales tops the 1992 season when the Bills surged in popularity while earning four straight conference titles. The addition of new head coach Rex Ryan and some key offensive players in LeSean McCoy and Percy Harvin surely helped to rekindle interest in the team. The Bills’ nine-win 2014 campaign also makes their best single-season performance since 1999.

Things are looking up in Western New York, and Ryan can already claim ownership to a franchise record without coaching a single game. Just imagine what the hype would be if the Bills actually had a star-quality quarterback in place.
