Tight end Tim Wright played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013 before he was traded to the New England Patriots last year.
Recently released by the Patriots, Wright drew heavy interest from 10 teams, including Tampa Bay. Considering the Buccaneers had the highest waiver wire priority based on their record last season, they ended up claiming the tight end.
It is reported by Field Yates of ESPN that the other nine teams who put in a waiver for Wright included the Bears, Browns, Chiefs, Dolphins, Falcons, Jets, Lions, Saints and Steelers.
The high demand for Wright is interesting.
It is worth noting that the Bears are on this list. Tight end Martellus Bennett has been a no-show at team practices so far during the offseason because he is unhappy with his current contract status.
In the end, Wright winds up back where it all started. During his rookie season with Tampa Bay in 2013, the pass catcher put up 54 receptions for 571 yards and four scores.
