Santana Moss on Free Agent Status: “You Know How They Do Us Old Guys”

One of the older free agents still on the open market is 35-year-old wide receiver Santana Moss who joins the veteran list of available players not ready to retire.

Moss is hanging tight while he remains optimistic that an NFL team will sign him prior to the kick off of training camp. Speaking with 247sports.com, Moss expressed his hopeful outlook:

“I’m a free agent right now, you know how they do us old guys. I’m going on my 15th year. Right now my agent is talking with some teams to see what’s going to be my best scenario. Right now I’m just chilling, just enjoying life, and enjoying this off time.”

Moss is coming off of 10 largely productive seasons with the Washington Redskins. This past year saw him put up just 10 receptions for 116 yards and zero touchdowns. Unfortunately, these numbers aren’t very impressive for teams in need. The last time Moss cracked the 1,000-yard plateau was back in 2010. Since then, he has been held to less than 50 receptions each season.

Prior to the draft, Washington was reportedly going to re-sign Moss, however the team used some later-round draft picks to acquire wide receivers Jamison Crowder and Evan Spencer.

With that, Moss’ fate with the team was pretty much sealed.

For now, Moss remains on the market with other older players who are just looking for one more opportunity.
