Report: Houston Texans Will Be the Featured Team on “Hard Knocks”

JJ Watt

Official announcement is expected today that the Houston Texans will be the featured NFL team on the HBO series “Hard Knocks.” This is the first time the Texans will appear on the series which has been airing since 2001.

Key storylines are likely to surround animated defensive end J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney who is recovering from micro-fracture knee surgery and the Texans’ quarterback competition between Ryan Mallett and veteran Brian Hoyer. Bill O’Brien will add a bit of spice along with an often random-acting Arian Foster who might just sport his British accent for us.

The Texans fit the correct criteria to be the featured team this year. It is reported that teams can refuse the offer to be on the show if they have been to the playoffs in the past two years, have a new head coach, or if they have been on the show in the previous 10 years.

Thus far in the history of “Hard Knocks”, the Falcons, Dolphins, Jets, Ravens and Chiefs have all appeared on the show once. The Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys have been featured two times each.
