Dallas Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones doesn’t quite share the same enthusiasm that his quarterback Tony Romo has about the Cowboys making it to the next Super Bowl.

Jones shared his more realistic approach for the upcoming season, tempering aspirations to make it all the way to the Super Bowl.
Let’s not confuse how good we feel about our team with putting (the Super Bowl) around the neck of something that if we did know (we) could beat those kinds of odds, then life would be a lot different for all of us,” the owner said, via ESPN. “That’s a statement that is real hard to live up to. No one knows it better than we do.
Well, that’s a fine way to rain on Romo’s parade.
The Cowboys are coming off of a solid 2014 season that saw them finish with a 12-4 record and the NFC East title. Now that reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year DeMarco Murray is no longer with the squad, Jones and company face an uphill climb. That was magnified this past weekend when the team avoided the running back position altogether.
In Romo’s defense, Jones did say this:
I understand completely what he’s (Romo) saying. He’s got a lot of confidence. He feels good about our defense. No one in our organization was hollering defense more than Tony.
As the 2015 season plays out, we will see if free agency and draft moved the Cowboys closer to hoisting the Lombardi. But as of now, Jones’ statement appears to be a bit more realistic than what Romo said.
