Dolphins Teammate on Dion Jordan: It’s a Bad Situation

Earlier this offseason, the NFL announced that it had suspended Miami Dolphins pass rusher Dion Jordan for the entire 2015 season for another violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

That announcement came as the Dolphins were reportedly involved in trade discussions surrounding the enigmatic former No. 3 overall pick.

To say that Jordan’s early-NFL career hasn’t gone too swimmingly would be an understatement. In addition to multiple violations of the substance abuse policy, Jordan simply hasn’t lived up to the expectations that came with being a top pick. In fact, he’s recorded a total of three sacks and has started just one game in two seasons.

Now that Jordan’s career is on hold, it appears that he’s made a point of not remaining in contact with the Dolphins, players included.

Dolphins defensive end Derrick Shelby had some rather alarming comments regarding his teammate.

“It’s a (expletive) situation,” Shelby said, via Barry Jackson the Miami Herald. “I’ve texted him a few times but got no response.”

Not remaining in contact with the powers to be in Miami is one thing. Refusing to answer texts from teammates, especially those who you battled with on the defensive line, is a completely different thing.

While Shelby didn’t provide any further insight to the situation, probably because he doesn’t have any, this has to be concerning. Based on multiple drug issues, the hope here is that Jordan hasn’t continued a dissent into that lifestyle and is just looking to clear his head.

Either way, it surely does appear that Jordan’s career with the Dolphins is over. It’s now about seeing if he can get his house in order off the field. Responding to those interested in his well-being would be a nice start.
