Ben Roethlisberger Claims Season Opener Won’t be the Same Without Tom Brady

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger hopes that Tom Brady will be able to suit up for the New England Patriots when the two teams come head-to-head in the Week 1 season opener.

“He’s a guy, I’ve said for a long time, he’s the best in the business, and he proved it again last year winning his fourth (Super Bowl),” said Roethlisberger, per ESPN.com’s Jeremy Fowler. “If he’s not out there, it’s not the same. I have a lot of respect for him on the football field and some of the unbelievable things that he’s done. I guess we’ll wait and see what’s finally going to happen.”

Big Ben could very well get his wish if Brady’s suspension is overturned on appeal. He also knows a little something about the appeals process. He had a suspension shortened from six games to four stemming from sexual assault allegations back in 2010.

The last time these two quarterbacks faced each other was in 2013 when the Patriots crushed Big Ben and the Steelers, 55-31. Roethlisberger won’t be the only disappointed party if Brady misses this game. Fans would surely rather see Brady going up against Big Ben instead of second-year quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
