Andre Johnson Slated for a “Significant Part” in Colts Offense

The Indianapolis Colts signed wide receiver Andre Johnson after he and the Houston Texans parted ways following 12 seasons. Indianapolis is now appeared to give Johnson a larger role than what the Texans had envisioned for him prior to the two sides “parting ways.”

According to Mike Wells of ESPN, who was in attendance at the team’s OTA’s on Wednesday, it was “pretty obvious” that the Johnson would have a “significant part” in the Colts offense this season (h/t NFL.com).

The takeaway we can gather from Wells’ comment is that Johnson will be poised for the No. 2 receiving spot behind T.Y. Hilton as training camp and the preseaon play out.

This news follows previous comments from Chuck Pagano indicating that the transition of Johnson and Frank Gore to the team has been “pretty seamless.”

Johnson managed a surprising 85 receptions for 936 yards with a trio of below-average quarterbacks tossing him the rock in Houston last season. It would not be all too surprising to see him put up even better numbers with Andrew Luck under center in Indy.
