Royals Involved in Yet Another Bench-Clearing Brawl

Less than a week after Yordano Ventura and the Kansas City Royals engaged in a bench-clearing brawl with the Oakland Athletics, the team was back at it again on Thursday night.

It happened when Chicago White Sox outfielder Adam Eaton grounded a ball back to Ventura in the eighth inning of Thursday night’s game. The young Royals staff ace then said something to Eaton before throwing the ball to first.

What proceeded was a melee that would make White Sox manager Robin Ventura and Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan proud.

At the end of the scrum, Ventura, Lorenzo Cain and Edinson Volquez of the Royals, and Chris Sale and Jeff Samardzija of the White Sox were all ejected. There are obviously going to be some suspensions handed down as well.

In addition to this latest incident and the brawl last week against Oakland, Ventura was involved in a war of words with Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout earlier in April.

Something has to be done about what is happening with the Royals starter right now. He seems to be just a bit juiced up. You simply don’t see a player directly involved in three scrums in the matter of less than two weeks.

Here’s the full video.

It will be interesting to see how MLB responds to this ugly incident.
