Report: Oklahoma City Thunder Fire Scott Brooks

Coming off an injury-plagued 2014-2015 season that saw his Oklahoma City Thunder miss the playoffs altogether, it’s being reported that head coach Scott Brooks has been fired.

Yahoo Sports insider Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Thunder general manager Sam Presti met with Brooks in California on Wednesday to deliver the news to the now-former Thunder head coach.

Brooks took over for P.J. Carlesimo during the 2008-2009 season, leading Oklahoma City to a 22-47 record after a 1-12 start to the season. In the five years that followed, up until this past regular season, Brooks led the Thunder to the playoffs each season, winning the Western Conference in 2011-2012.

He also boasts a career .620 winning percentage with four 50-plus win seasons.

However, it fell apart for Brooks and the Thunder this year. They finished with a 45-37 record in what was an injury-ravaged campaign that saw Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka miss a combined 86 games. Despite this, Oklahoma City was in position to earn a playoff spot up until the final day of the regular season.

Brooks is expected to get ample play as a head coaching candidate around the Association in the coming weeks.
