Report: Eli Manning is not Concerned with Contract Extension

Eli Manning

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is entering the final season of his six-year, $97.5 million contract. At this time, it is reported that there have been no discussions between Manning and the Giants on an extension (via Fox Sports).

When approached about the status of his contract, Manning didn’t seem to be concerned one bit:

I haven’t made a big deal about it.

Manning had a similar response when he was asked the same question back in December, as reported by the NY Post.

If the Giants want to discuss it, we’ll discuss it, but it’s not a focus of mine,” Manning said back in December. “I’ve never been real worried about contract stuff. I let all that just handle itself.

Manning, 34, is entering into his 12th season with the Giants. He indicated he would not be insulted if an extension was not in place prior to the start of the regular season.

Manning’s confidence could be related to the fact that he threw for the second-most yards (4,410) and tallied the second-most touchdowns (30) of his career this past year.

Not to be bothered with his future beyond this year, it appears the two-time Super Bowl winner is taking the calm and cool approach, at least that is what he would want us to believe.
