Report: Buffalo Bills Content Not Having a First Round Draft Pick

Rex Ryan

The Buffalo Bills have a whole new aura about them with new head coach Rex Ryan now in the driver’s seat. What the team does not have is a first-round pick on Thursday night.

The Bills traded their 2015 first and fourth round draft picks along with last year’s ninth-overall pick to the Cleveland Browns in order to move up and select wide receiver Sammy Watkins at four overall.

Ryan had this to say about not having a first-round pick this year, leaving the impression that they would not attempt to trade up for one (via NFL.com).

So that first day of the draft, we probably aren’t going to pick. It looks pretty good that we won’t pick.

With some fancy free agency moves and trades this offseason, the Bills landed running back LeSean McCoy and wide receiver Percy Harvin to beef up their offense. What they are lacking is a quality-caliber starting quarterback. However, Ryan is already working on that one.

The new Bills head coach confirmed that the team visited with quarterback Bryce Petty out of Baylor earlier this week.

Petty, who is expected to be the third or fourth quarterback selected in the draft, could potentially be the Bills second-round pick.
