Cordarrelle Patterson Claims: “This Year is Going to Make me or Break me”

Minnesota Vikings’ wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson started out with high hopes last year after a somewhat promising rookie campaign in 2013.

However, Patterson crashed down to earth just like a giant meteor in 2014, eventually losing his starting job with the team. This season, Patterson really needs to step up because he knows his career is on the line after the pitiful numbers (384 yards and one touchdown) he posted last season.

Acknowledging the obvious, Patterson spoke with the Pioneer Press about his situation heading into the 2015 season.

This year is going to make me or break me, and I hope I step up and have a good role in this offense.

Growing up, I was always athletic and could just do anything. I’m in the NFL now, so I just have to focus on my craft and just work at route running, getting in and getting out of breaks and stuff like that.

Patterson, 24, needs to grow up on the field as well. He recently said that he is working on his route-running, which is something he struggled with big-time last year. As it stands now, Patterson will have to impress this summer with the competition he’s slated to face from the newly acquired Mike Wallace and a talented youngster in the form of Charles Johnson.

As it looks now, Patterson’s role could be reduced to part-time duties. This is obviously dependent on him actually being a member of the Vikings in 2015.
