Buccaneers Trade Dashon Goldson to the Redskins

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded former Pro Bowl safety Dashon Goldson and a 2016 seventh-round pick to the Washington Redskins for a sixth-round pick that same year.

Goldson, 30, earned two Pro Bowl appearances for the San Francisco 49ers in 2011 and 2012. Following his six-year career in Northern California, Goldson signed a five-year, $41.25 million contract with Tampa Bay prior to the 2013 season.

In two seasons with the Buccaneers, the defensive back recorded 153 tackles and one interception in 27 games (all starts).

According to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), Goldson graded out 86th among 87th qualified safeties this past season. Needless to say, his career has taken a major downturn in recent seasons.

If nothing else, this move adds depth to the Redskins secondary.
