Russell Wilson’s Contract Reportedly Will Not be Entirely Guaranteed

Russell Wilson

A report by NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport regarding Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson’s new contract suggest that the deal will be high, but not fully guaranteed.

This news differs from earlier reports speculating that Wilson could possibly receive fully guaranteed money once the two parties agree to a contract extension.

A deal that is not entirely guaranteed still does not take away from the fact that Wilson is slated to become the NFL’s highest-paid player. Rapoport also indicted that the goal for a timeline would be to have both parties agree to terms before training camp begins. Though, discussions on Wilson’s new contract have not officially taken place.

We can assess that Wilson is in for a monster of a pay day considering all of the success he has brought to the Seahawks while working under his extremely cheap four-year rookie contract.

While Baltimore still needs to work on a deal with linebacker Bobby Wagner, it would appear that taking care of Wilson remains the team’s highest priority.

If for some reason the two parties cannot agree to terms right away, Wilson still remains under his current contract through 2015 and the team could franchise him for two more seasons beyond this year.
