Report: Mark Ingram Re-Signs with the New Orleans Saints

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, running back Mark Ingram and the New Orleans Saints have reached an agreement on a four-year deal.

Ingram, who was set to become a free agent, recorded career-high marks in 2014, tallying 226 carries, 964 yards and nine touchdowns, adding 36 receptions for 145 yards as a receiver.

Against the Green Bay Packers last season, he achieved a personal-best performance, racking up 172 yards in a 44-23 blowout of Aaron Rodgers’ crew. Ingram eclipsed the 100-yard barrier four times.

A first-round pick in the 2011 NFL draft, Ingram will be the best running back on New Orleans’ roster next season. The Saints recently cut Pierre Thomas, while Khiry Robinson and Travaris Cadet are simply not long-term answers.

On the other hand, Ingram is a solid fit in the multiple-look New Orleans offense, particularly in goal-line situations. He brings a physical presence to the Saints’ backfield and can contribute as receiver, though realistically in a limited fashion.

The Alabama product has tallied 2,426 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns during his four-year NFL career.

The deal is said to be worth $16 million over four years.
