Raiders Planning to Visit with Ndamukong Suh

NFL teams can’t officially contact impending free agents until Saturday, but this doesn’t mean that here isn’t some behind-the-scenes shenanigans going on around the league. As we prepare for free agency, the expectation is that news will break regarding players planning to sign with certain teams over the weekend.

In the first real news of the free-agency period, NFL Media’s Mike Silver is reporting that the Oakland Raiders are planning to meet with All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh next week.

Considering the Raiders ridiculous amount of cap space ($58.82 million), this shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. The team is also in desperate need of a building block in the defensive front to team up with Khalil Mack. In reality, Suh would be a tremendous fit.

Not that every free-agent visit results in an actual contract, but Oakland has the necessary cash to close the deal should it offer Suh what he is seeking.

Other reports indicate that the Miami Dolphins remain favorites for the top free agent on this year’s market.

Either way, don’t expect the Suh sweepstakes to end immediately after free agency starts. He’s likely going to take his time.
