No Dez Bryant Deal, But Cowboys Ink Cole Beasley for Four Years

While a contract extension for star wide receiver Dez Bryant is unlikely at this point, the Dallas Cowboys did finalize a four-year extension with fellow receiver Cole Beasley on Tuesady.

It is reported by NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport that Beasley has signed a four-year, $13.6 million contract. With incentives, the deal could be worth $15.1 million including, $7 million guaranteed and a $4 million signing bonus.

As Tony Romo’s primary slot receiver this past season, Beasley had 37 catches totaling 420 yards and four touchdowns.

While Bryant and the Cowboys have not agreed to a long-term deal, the team did pretty much guarantee he will be on the team by throwing a $12.8 million franchise tag on him.

During Beasley’s three years in Dallas, his 2014 campaign was his best. At just 25-years-old, the Cowboys apparently wish to keep the up-and-coming receiver for the long haul.

Unfortunately, this news does not increase the chances that running back DeMarco Murray will remain in Dallas once he hits free agency later this month.
