Chip Kelly Reportedly Wanted Sam Bradford Without Losing Nick Foles

Reportedly, Philadelphia Eagles’ head coach Chip Kelly wanted to trade with the St. Louis Rams to acquire quarterback Sam Bradford and still keep Nick Foles with the team.

This would have likely resulted in the Eagles letting quarterback Mark Sanchez leave in free agency. However, the Rams only entertained the trade if they could get Foles.

Kelly described the whole trade process:

It went on for a couple weeks. We were trying to keep Nick if we could. It was just at the last second, they wanted players. We were trying to get it done with draft picks, but it didn’t work out that way.

This all shows how desperately Kelly wanted Bradford, especially considering he was willing in the end to give up Foles and draft compensation to achieve his goal. Whether Bradford plays out to be the Eagles’ dream franchise quarterback remains to be seen. One thing is for sure: Philadelphia’s head coach surely loves himself some Bradford.

That is until the team trades for Marcus Mariota. See what we did there?
